European classic bentwood piece, first developed 1881. In 1861, a bent furniture plant was opened by Michael Thonet in Bystřice pod Hostýnem and today it is among the oldest in the world. The place was tactical, as it was surrounded by beech forests offering enough material for the manufacturing process, Bystřice pod Hostýnem also saved on transportation and labour costs thanks to its location.
A characteristic feature of B-1890 is the backrest filling material – there is a translucent mat supporting the reed weave placed on the top layer. This completes the picture of the whole piece of furniture as a monument to the perseverance and accuracy of human hands. The seat can be upholstered or left with a wooden face.
